What Does it Cost to Eat at School?

$1.50 Lunch for all grade levels
$.40 Reduced price lunch

Breakfast is free for all students.

Meal Charge Policy

Students may charge lunch up to 3 days in secondary schools and 5 days in elementary schools.  Messages will be sent home as needed reminding parents to take care of outstanding account balances.  Phone contact will also be attempted.  If the maximum allowable charge is reached, the school office will be notified and students asked to immediately contact parents/guardians for payment.  The school's Parent Liaison or social worker may be involved.  It is the parents' responsibility to check on account balances.  If the maximum charge is reached, an alternate meal may be provided.  No student with outstanding charges will be allowed to purchase extra items.

What is the Georgia School Nutrition Association? Its mission is to advance the availability, quality and acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of education. It is the professional organization of school food service employees in the state of Georgia. GSNA is a non-profit organization founded in 1951 and incorporated in Georgia in 1967. GSNA maintains a headquarters office and professional staff in Tucker, Georgia. GSNA is affiliated with the School Nutrition Association, a national non-profit organization with headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

This year’s theme is “Setting The Table For Success”. President Malcolm Quillen has challenged us to bring our best to the table for GSNA and the children we serve. Please help us embrace our Success Menu to accomplish this task.

Dougherty County School System School Nutrition Director Vanessa Hayes was selected to present "Step up to Healthier US Success" at the 2011 Annual National Conference July 9-13 in Nashville. She will share ways to become more involved in the "Let's Move" initiative.

Its mission is to advance good nutrition for all children. Its vision is healthful meals and nutrition education are available to all children.
