Gentlemen's Club

In order to help male students reach The Superintendent's SMART goals, Fourth and Fifth grade boys are participating in gender classes. Gender classes will provide opportunities for social development through mentoring by the Concerned Black Men of Albany. Boys will also be exposed to  cultural development through field trips and participation in the arts. The Concerned Black Men will also assist the school in promoting healthful living through healthful diet, regular exercise and preventive health care habits.  Efforts will also be made to help the students make choices to avoid smoking and tobacco use as well as avoid the use of alcohol and illegal drugs. A mentor for each male student will be provided.

Superintendent's SMART Goals

1.  We will reduce the retention of African American males by 50% annually.

2. 75 % of students will meet or exceed standards on the writing assessment by the end of the school year.

3.By the year 2009, the number of students performing on level three in each content area will increase by 5% as measured by the CRCT.

***Each Wednesday male students are expected to dress for success by wearing a shirt and tie with their uniform slacks.  Girls are expected to wear their "Sunday best".
