Internal auditing plays a key role in the Process Management System. The goal of Internal Auditing is to verify that school system departments are doing what they say they do in their written procedures, identify gaps between the process management system and the ISO standard, provide accountability, and facilitate the continuous improvement process.

Departments that are included in the scope of the certification can expect at least one internal audit a year. Prior to the internal audit, departments will be contacted by a member of the Internal Audit Team to schedule a mutually agreeable time to meet. The internal audit should take between 2 and 3 hours depending on the complexity of your department.
